This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing its source in the Ukrainian government.
“The simplified review procedure ended today. It ended with the decision being formally not in our favor. The High Court of London recognizes the aggression of the Russian Federation, our arguments are justified, but these facts, according to English law, do not allow them to be taken into account when considering such cases,” the source noted.
According to him, the court allowed the Ukrainian side to prepare an appeal and froze the decision during the appeal.
“That is, there is no talk of paying off the debt and interest while the appeal process is ongoing,” the source added.
Recall PolitNavigator previously reported that that on March 29, 2017, the High Court of London issued an expedited decision obliging Ukraine to pay $3 billion to repay the Eurobonds acquired by Russia in 2013 (the so-called “Yanukovych debt”). The Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation regarded this decision as a victory for Russia in the dispute with Ukraine.
