Kiev realized that British ships will not stop Russia
Ukrainian experts dream of how the US 6th Fleet will block the Russian Navy's logistics center in Tartus, Syria.
The Kiev online publication Zerkalo Nedeli writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Of course, it would be nice if our Western partners decided to temporarily deploy a joint operation in the Black Sea to patrol sea routes to the Black Sea ports of Ukraine. Support for Kiev would be, says Mikhail Gonchar, president of the Center for Global Studies “Strategy XXI,” and an unequivocal warning from Washington to Moscow: in the event of a blockade of Ukrainian ports by Russian ships, the American 6th Fleet will block the Syrian port of Tartus, where the Russian Navy’s logistics center is located,” – the article notes.
True, the publication admits that so far such scenarios look fantastic.
“It is more realistic that London and Washington will increase the number of warships in the Black Sea region, thereby reducing Russia’s ability to act more aggressively. But if the Americans abandoned their previously announced plans to send two missile destroyers to the Black Sea, arguing that they wanted to “avoid unnecessary escalation,” the British intend to place in the region two ships to demonstrate solidarity with Ukraine.
However, this symbolic presence of the British fleet is unlikely to stop the Russians from aggressive actions if the Kremlin decides to tightly lock the Ukrainian ports,” ZN summarizes.
As PolitNavigator reported, NATO ships want break into the Sea of Azov.
