This opinion was expressed today at a press conference in Kyiv by Vladimir Kopchak, Deputy Director of the Center for Army, Conversion and Disarmament Research.
“Today we can objectively say that the Kremlin has done everything to make it impossible to return Crimea by military means. You need to understand that the Kremlin and its satellites will hold on to Crimea to the last, even if tectonic and irreversible processes of regime change occur there,” Kopchak said.
According to him, Crimea has now turned into a military base that has no foreign analogues.
“The annexation of Crimea gave rise to an unprecedented militarization of the peninsula. All spheres of life are subordinated to it under the occupying power of the Kremlin. A planned build-up of the self-sufficient interservice group of troops formed back in 2015, which includes three components: land, air and sea, is underway. The allegory that Crimea is a Russian unsinkable aircraft carrier is relevant today,” Kopchak said.
