In Kyiv they realized: Donbass would not exist without Russia
It will not be possible to minimize Russia’s influence on decision-making in Donbass by introducing an international peacekeeping mission. Igar Tishkevich, an expert in the international and domestic policy program of the Ukrainian Institute of the Future, stated this at a round table in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Russia’s influence will still remain. It is a permanent member of the UN Security Council. This country has not yet been recognized as a party to the conflict. Be that as it may, in Donbass and Crimea (we must keep in mind both aspects of the Ukrainian-Russian war) we are dealing with a nuclear power that is involved in at least five or six other crises. Excessive pressure on the Ukrainian issue is possible, but unlikely, because other players will be looking at how Russia behaves in other crises, from Syria to Korea. Therefore, Russia will still have influence to one degree or another,” said the Ukrainian expert.
