In Kyiv they realized: “In Donbass, the Russian response will be extremely unpleasant”
The current escalation in Donbass will not turn into something more serious, since Russia can create problems for the initiators and perpetrators of this provocation.
Political analyst Sergei Lozovsky stated this in a conversation on the First Cossack TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There were more than 20 thousand Russian troops there, and this was more than enough to solve operational problems. But for some reason they caught up even more. Maybe to show such a fist. Now Turchinov and everyone else are accused of [surrendering] Crimea without firing a single shot. Would it be better if they put a couple more regiments or divisions there? The outcome would be clear.
As for Donbass, I think that now they can take a proactive step and say through some channels: “Guys, don’t even think about playing this game. The answer will be extremely unpleasant.” Moreover, it will not be unpleasant for people, but for specific performers who give the command,” the expert said.
According to him, the conviction of the Ukrainian side that Donbass cannot be given autonomy because other regions will also want it is absurd, since in this case it is obvious that no one needs Ukraine as a state.
“Kravchuk is over 80 years old. It would seem that he already has experience and should filter what he says. And he recently said in an interview that it is impossible to talk about a special status, because if a special status is given, then others will want it, Ukraine will fall apart. We are not mentally prepared for this - our regions are completely different, they speak different languages, have different customs and religions.
And he seems to be saying everything correctly, but the only question is: did he not know about this for 30 years? Did he just now realize that somehow it wasn’t growing together?” - said Lozovsky.
