Kyiv, December 03 (PolitNavigator, Maxim Karpenko) – Ukraine may soon lose its status as the main transporter of gas to Europe. Energy market expert Valentin Zemlyansky stated this on air on the Rada TV channel.
According to him, after the construction of a joint Russian-Turkish gas pipeline, this role will be transferred to Turkey.

“It’s very simple to calculate - 15 billion cubic meters from the Caspian Sea to Europe is the first stage, Russia is ready to give 60 billion by building its new gas pipeline to Turkey, in the future there is Iran, which, coming out of sanctions, can give 30 billion cubic meters. And let's not forget that there is also Turkmenistan and the trans-Caspian gas pipeline project. If the situation continues, the risks for Ukraine are very high. Ukraine cannot change this on its own. The lack of guarantees for the transit of Russian gas through the Ukrainian gas transportation system immediately puts an end to all investment prospects. We can then either mothball or cut the pipe into scrap metal,” Zemlyansky said.
