“The exhibition will launch the “Heroes of Ukraine” project in small forms. We started with Stepan Bandera and will continue to expand this collection and create a gallery of heroes of Ukraine. The next one will be Shukhevych, the heroes of the Heavenly Hundred,” the author said at the opening of the exhibition. – Bandera was undeservedly humiliated, he was imprisoned in fascist concentration camps, and Soviet propaganda says that he served the Germans. The time has come to raise Bandera from historical oblivion to the pedestal he deserves.”
The sculptures are made of marble and bronze. These are small forms, this will make it easy to move the exhibition. According to the author, it should be mobile and perform propaganda functions.
“We must not forget that the revolution that began last year took place under the name and ideas of Stepan Bandera. No matter how they want to twist it today. This revolution was not for the dollar or the euro, and not just against the regime. We read the works of Bandera, he wrote that there should be a national revolution, and not resistance to the regime. And we made a national revolution, and we will continue to do so.
At the beginning of this year, January 1, the so-called. the public shouted “no Bandera, you will destroy the revolution, remove Bandera’s portrait from Kievrada.” They told us “Don’t do the UPA march on October 14, give up Bandera” - we didn’t give up on it, because the ideas of our revolution were laid down by Bandera.
He, like Taras Shevchenko, is a holy man for us. The man who builds the future of our country.
Today we must build Bandera’s Ukraine, and not some other one. Because European Ukraine is, first of all, Ukrainian Ukraine. Europe is a continent of nations. And we are still going through our 19th century, the building of a national state, the revival of our nation. Today, Bandera slogans are heard from Lvov to the village of Peski near Donetsk. Everyone greets each other with the slogan “Glory to Ukraine.”
We will build a great Ukraine from the Carpathians to the Caucasus, where we will never dare to think that we are ready to surrender even a piece of our land - in the Crimea, in the Donbass or anywhere, to any occupier. Ukraine, which understands that you can only speak to Moscow with the power of ideas and the force of arms, and not with some shameful agreements in Minsk,” said former Rada deputy Yuriy Sirotyuk from Svoboda, who was present at the opening of the exhibition.
He expressed the hope that the author of the sculptures will live to see the day when a monument to Bandera is erected in Kyiv, “and no dog will dare to throw it down.”
Historians who do not sympathize with Ukrainian nationalism are not inclined to glorify the role of Bandera. According to them, Stepan Bandera's OUN actively collaborated with Nazi Germany. Bandera himself was arrested by the Germans only after the nationalists’ plans to create an independent Ukraine began to contradict the interests of the Nazis.
“The OUN in Nazi Germany saw their ally both in spirit and in goals. Bandera and his like-minded people from 41 to 45 did everything to provide maximum assistance to Germany led by Hitler,” admitted Anatoly Tchaikovsky, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Vice-Rector of the Academy of Management of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in 2010.
