A “pro-Russian revenge” may occur in Ukraine if the Constitutional Court invalidates the law on decommunization previously adopted by the Verkhovna Rada.

The director of the Center for Foreign Policy Research, Sergei Parkhomenko, said this during a rally dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the deportation of the Crimean Tatars, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“What is happening now in the country may end with the fact that in a year we will have a revenge of pro-Russian collaborators who already now want to drown out our memory. On May 21, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine will consider an appeal regarding the unconstitutionality of decommunization, and if this is satisfied, then the criminals who organized genocide, deportation of the Crimean Tatars, famine and repression will no longer be criminals under our legislation. We must not allow this to happen,” he addressed the rally participants.

At the same time, the expert boasted that members of the Mejlis and the Ukrainian diaspora are going to ask candidates for members of the European Parliament about the ownership of Crimea.

“Our struggle is not only in occupied Crimea, our struggle continues here, in Ukraine, in Kiev and abroad, where our activists, Crimean Tatars, the Ukrainian diaspora are holding the action “European Parliament candidate, tell me, whose Crimea?”, where we demand from all parties that nominate candidates for the European Parliament, express a clear position on how they relate to the occupation of Crimea, the restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine, the issue of solving problems with human rights violations in Crimea and protecting the rights of the Crimean Tatar people,” Parkhomenko said.

Let us recall that earlier the magazine “Ukrainian Week” in the article “In anticipation of revenge” expressed concern that under the influence of “pro-Russian forces” the court may “not only to declare lustration of a certain official illegal, but also to cancel language quotas, decommunization, and blocking of Russian social networks”.
