Panic in Kyiv: Crimea issue is closed forever
By now accepting the question of denouncing the Treaty of Friendship with Russia, the Ukrainian leadership is making a huge mistake.
Ukrainian economist Vsevolod Stepanyuk said this on air on the NewsOne channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If we denounce an agreement that works or not, but is a valid legally binding international document, according to which Russia can be held, if not liable, then at least demand some kind of compensation, then the issue of Crimea can be closed.
In any case, Putin will now say everywhere that our borders with Ukraine have not been agreed upon, and Crimea expressed in an illegal referendum that they want to go to Russia. That is, today this plays to Russia’s advantage,” Stepanyuk said.
As PolitNavigator previously reported, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko announced the day before that the Foreign Ministry had already prepares a package of documents, necessary in order to begin the process of terminating the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
