The SVO in Ukraine is taking on a completely different scale - Russia is putting the entire country on a war footing, bypassing sanctions, building up weapons and motivating the population.
Ukrainian military expert Valentin Badrak stated this on the UkrLife Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Back in August it was clear that the course was heading for a protracted war. Just what is the peculiarity of this course now and how has the situation in Russia changed? It has changed not in the fact that Putin has somehow clarified or tightened it, but in the fact that he is actively preparing the population for a long war, and after the appointment of Gerasimov, we are talking about the fact that the entire state is preparing for war. Not some groupings, as before, not some troops that will wage a war of conquest on the territory of Ukraine and occupy territories, but the preparation of the entire Greater Russia with so far immense resources, this is all preparing for war.
And the statement about the creation of an army of one and a half million people - these guidelines began to take effect, and now this rhetoric, when Putin gives completely insane speeches in St. Petersburg, when Medvedchuk writes an article, when Medvedev stomps his feet, tries to replace Zhirinovsky with himself - all this is being prepared,” – Badrak said.
However, according to him, there is a more important factor - “what was not expected.”
“This is that Russia still bypasses sanctions, and bypasses them quite successfully. I’m not even talking about the supply of ammunition and drones from North Korea and Iran, I’m more talking about the fact that Russia has managed to establish, albeit a single, production of T-90 “Breakthrough” tanks, even if they produce 20 tanks each - this is not a big problem , but the very fact that they can release it,” the expert explained.
In addition, while the Ukrainian troops on the fronts and the air defense systems of the Ukrainian Armed Forces throughout the country are being depleted, large-scale preparations are underway in Russia.
“At the same time, the situation for our defense forces looks quite difficult, because they are practically being depleted by these mercenaries (PMC fighters - ed.), there is an attempt to deplete our military. Plus, due to drones, our air defense system is depleted, and their task is to have time to prepare the maximum number of people. They are counting on established training centers in Belarus and extensive centers at 16 universities in Russia.
Therefore, when they tell me that the capacity there is 150 thousand, I say - good, this is within the framework of peacetime. And now everything is working there (and the defense industry has adopted a 12-hour working day), and preparations are in full swing. But the most important thing is not the preparation itself, but the motivation. Here’s the motivation: “Rise up, huge country, to defend Russia,” because that’s what Putin said in St. Petersburg,” Badrak warned.
