Gorky Street was renamed in Kyiv - the writer was considered a symbol of the “era of totalitarianism”

Kyiv, November 14 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – The Kyiv City Council on Thursday decided to rename a number of streets and squares. “These are names that relate to the era of totalitarianism,” announced secretary Alexey Reznikov. Maxim Gorky Street was one of them.

According to the decision of the deputies, Gorky Street became Antnovich Street, Krasnoarmeyskaya - Bolshaya Vasilkovskaya, Chekistov Lane - Kostya Gordienko Lane, Vetrova Street - Nazarovskaya Street, Vorovsky Street - Bulvarno-Nazarovskaya, Dmitrov Street - Delovaya Street, etc.
The Kyiv City Council also renamed Frunze Square, returning its old name - Petropavlovskaya.
