The results of the first year of Poroshenko’s rule were summed up in Kyiv
Ukrainian experts summed up the results of the first anniversary of Petro Poroshenko's reign. His victories include Russia’s curtailment of the Novorossiya project, the formation of the Ukrainian army, the victory over Yatsenyuk and Kolomoisky, and the efficiency of the ruling coalition in the Rada. Defeat means economic collapse and curtailment of dialogue with Moscow.

The fact that, as Kiev is convinced today, the “Novorossiya” project has practically been curtailed, and the combat zone was limited to the territories of the DPR and LPR, without extending to Kharkov, Kherson, Zaporozhye, Dnepropetrovsk and Odessa, many interlocutors "Kommersant" considered to be a merit of the ruling team, and especially the head of state.
The second positive point related to this is the formation of the army. “If we compare the state of our armed forces a year ago and the state they are in now, there is clear qualitative progress,” says military expert at the Institute of Ukrainian Politics Igor Levchenko.
The publication's interlocutors are convinced that the diplomatic talent of Petro Poroshenko and the arguments he presented in negotiations with the Americans and Europeans became one of the reasons for the unprecedentedly harsh pressure of the West on the Russian Federation, which did not dare to support the attack on Mariupol.
As for domestic politics, even Petro Poroshenko’s opponents admit that, against the backdrop of a falling standard of living, he managed to maintain a good rating, and also won the competition with Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Igor Kolomoisky.
In the year of Poroshenko’s rule, the Ukrainian economy has seen continuous losses. The economic results of the first year of Poroshenko’s presidency are bleak,” says economist Andrey Blinov, head of the “Successful Country” project. “GDP is falling by 9% per year, the hryvnia has depreciated by 2,6 times, industrial production has been declining by 21% annually for the past six months calculus. It would seem that the devaluation of the hryvnia should have stimulated exports, but nothing of the kind happened - it fell by 33%. Import - by 36%.”
In addition, the defeat of Petro Poroshenko is called the actual termination of the dialogue between Kyiv and Moscow, which began to see the President of Ukraine as a non-negotiable “hawk”.
