In Kyiv they realized that it was impossible to return Crimea - Pogrebinsky
The Kiev establishment is well aware of the impossibility of returning Crimea to Ukraine, but the leadership of this country from fear of nationalists forced to continue the “Crimean rhetoric”.
Political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky stated this on the Sputnik in Russian Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Everyone understands, both in the West and in Kyiv, among sane people, that in the current circumstances it is unrealistic to solve the problem of returning Crimea. But to exclude it from the agenda seems to contradict their interests of keeping their loins in their chairs.
The logic here is this: “We must constantly explain to our passionate part of society that we do not accept and will never accept the fact that we have lost Crimea.” This strengthens political positions in a country where the voice of compromise with Moscow is muffled, and speaking about it publicly is difficult and risky. And the voice of the nationalists, on the contrary, is supported by the authorities,” Pogrebinsky said.
Let us recall that earlier in Lvov they said that even when Crimea was part of Ukraine, the “Svidomo” Ukrainians who came from the “Bandershtat” felt that got to Russia.
In addition, a sociological survey conducted the day before in Crimea showed that the overwhelming majority of Crimeans (88%) would support the annexation of Crimea to the Russian Federation, 5% would support the status of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea within Ukraine, and 7% found it difficult to answer.
