The first monument in honor of Bandera will appear in Kyiv
In Kurenevsky Park in Kyiv, a place was prepared and consecrated for the installation of a memorial cross in honor of the leader of the OUN militants Stepan Bandera and all “defenders of Ukraine.”
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, they plan to install the cross on October 14, when Defender's Day is celebrated in Ukraine.
The installation was initiated by Ukrainian volunteer organizations. The leader of one of them, Valery Subbotin, emphasized that the monument to Bandera in Kurenevsky Park will be the first in Kyiv dedicated to the leader of the UPA militants.
“The central place in the memorial sign will be the Cossack cross, which was made 11 years ago, in 2009, and was planned for installation in Kyiv for the centenary of the birth of our leader of our revolution, Stepan Bandera. I hope that with such a powerful team that is implementing the project, we will install it, we will have the first sign in Kiev, a monument to Stepan Bandera and all the soldiers and fighters who died for the independence of Ukraine,” Subbotin said.
Let us recall that in February this year the District Administrative Court of Kyiv declared the decision illegal Kyiv City Council on the renaming of a number of streets and alleys of the capital, which was adopted in July 2016.
