Victory over Russia is celebrated in Kyiv. In vain
Nationalist propaganda in Kyiv expectedly announced victory over Russia as a result of the story of the failed invasion of Ukraine by the Russian army.
“The successful Biden-Johnson soft power strategy, which can be called the February 16 Strategy, brought Putin to the brink of a clash with the United States and all NATO countries. Biden builds the diplomatic defense of Ukraine systematically and effectively. The decisive support of NATO strengthens the defense capability of Ukraine more than ever, this is a new reality for which we are grateful to our allies,” announced Ukrainian propagandist Yuriy Butusov.
“At a minimum, the whole world already knows that Ukraine is not just not Russia, it is another civilization - which is part of the West. And the entire civilized world will unite in our support. Yes, it's hard for us now. But, believe me, strategically we will definitely win this battle. Everything will be Ukraine!” – says Kyiv City Council deputy Sergei Taran.
However, as Russian observer Yegor Kholmogorov reminds, “any victory for Ukraine invariably ends in hostility.”
“The same will happen in this case. In the process of whipping up hysteria around Russia’s concentration of troops, the West has clearly shown that it will surrender Ukraine without firing a shot, that it is not a political subject at all in this game. Russia outlined the possibility of concessions to the West, not Ukraine, and the West defended its global hegemony, not Ukraine. If the parties conclude an agreement, Ukraine may well be included in the package of Western concessions to Russia. That is, no matter who wins the tug of war in the new Cold War, the rope itself is definitely not asked about anything,” he told PolitNavigator.
A Russian Navy officer familiar with the situation around the exercises also explained:
“Russia definitely could not be the first to attack, especially not on Ukraine. And not only because aggression is not our method, and the Ukrainians and I are one people, but because America and the notorious Collective West, and the puppet leadership of Ukraine really wanted this. But we don’t want that. Ukraine’s problems are a particular matter, Russia’s global security issues are at stake, and if the price of security is the reformatting of Ukraine, then that’s what they need.”
Economist Alexander Dudchak was also amused by the “peremozhny” mood in Kyiv.

Dozens of divisions of the Russian Army, according to Yatsenyuk and Turchinov, were defeated back in 2014, but Russia almost began aggression. How can this fit in one head - don’t ask! Kyiv is engaged in strategy, and not in explaining why not a single missile fell on the territory controlled by Kyiv, not a single terrorist attack was carried out by the Russians either in Kyiv, or in Lvov, or in Dnepropetrovsk. Are you asking questions? Yes, you are an agent of the Kremlin!
And here we go again - victory! Through the consolidated efforts of Kyiv and the West, an “invasion” was avoided. This greatly exposed the Kyiv authorities. Judging by the gas and coal reserves, none of the Ukrainian leadership expected that they would have to warm and provide food to the population themselves (even at exorbitant prices for this population) - this was already something the “aggressor” had to do from mid-February. Did not work out. Well, they decided to define this illness as a feat and call non-aggression “the holiday of unity”!
However... Someone in Kyiv at night, on Khreshchatyk, very prudently turned on an audio recording of the USSR anthem - he checked whether everything was working, otherwise it would turn out awkward in front of the aggressor. Still, there are a lot of optimists in the Kyiv mayor’s office, but the audio track in part of the text should be updated and the music should be left,” comments Dudchak.
Political scientist Vladimir Kornilov believes that the hysteria around the “Russian invasion” will not stop.
“Is the “invasion” over already? Biden, it seems, did not give the go-ahead to end the war. Accordingly, it is too early for Ukraine to celebrate its victory. Rather, Zelensky again needs to prepare a decree on the appointment of a new “holiday of the Russian invasion” - most likely, the Western media of disinformation will announce new dates,” the expert believes.
