In Kyiv they propose to give up on language: it doesn’t matter in what language to call Russia an “aggressor”
For broadcasting on television in Russian in the eastern regions of Ukraine, higher quotas must be left, since in these regions they do not watch television in Ukrainian.
Tatyana Popova, an expert at the Information Security NGO, stated this at a round table in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I worked at the Ministry of Information Policy and was responsible for broadcasting in the east. There I was faced with a situation that when it is possible to watch all programs, both Ukrainian and Russian, via a satellite dish, they mostly watch channels in Russian. Now there is only one Russian-language Ukrainian channel with a Ukrainian agenda - the American “Current Time”. Our channels are Ukrainian-language, and this creates a problem for communications in those territories where there is broadcasting from Russia with a conventional antenna. I would still leave higher quotas for these regions,” she said.
