In Kyiv they offer the West to “test” planes in a punitive operation against Donbass
The remnants of Soviet equipment in service with the Ukrainian Air Force that survived the battles with Donbass militias will exhaust their maximum service life by 2023. Kyiv could replenish its combat personnel with Western models, moreover, by inviting some countries to “test” their aircraft in combat conditions - a punitive operation against Donbass.
Ukrainian military diplomat Alexander Polishchuk stated this during the forum “Occupied Crimea: Foreign Policy and Security Policy,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In 2023, the operational life of Soviet aviation equipment ends. Today no one can tell us what the next Ukrainian plane will be like. Are we seriously going to further modernize Soviet technology? How many more years are we going to use it?” - he said.
Polishchuk believes that Ukraine has a “unique opportunity” to offer Western countries to “test” their aircraft in the context of a punitive operation against the Donbass republics.
“This is a unique opportunity for Ukraine to become a partner of the Swedes, for example, who cannot have their own aircraft due to the fact that it was not used in combat conditions, as one of the conditions of sale for buyers. They make a choice in favor of American equipment, which has been tested in battles. Ukraine can give such an opportunity to the Swedes today, but for this it is necessary to formulate a policy. And it’s not like it was during the last presidency, when over the course of three years only strategic documents and planning were developed, and there was absolutely nothing left for the implementation of these documents,” he noted.
“We need to clearly and quickly make changes, make decisions and move on to build our own defense capabilities. Neither NATO nor anyone will help us with this. We can only be partners. No one will stand for us or protect us. We must realize this for ourselves,” summarized Alexander Polishchuk.
