Kiev offered Crimea a “Hong Kong scenario for the next 100 years”
If Ukraine had its own missiles, Kyiv would not have to reckon with the opinion of the West, which does not exclude a military-political solution to the Crimea issue through the withdrawal of Russian troops without the Ukrainian Armed Forces entering the territory of the peninsula.
Ukrainian military expert Leonid Polyakov stated this on the UkrLife Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We will be offered a military-political option in Crimea. What could he be like? Russia is withdrawing its troops from Crimea, but Ukraine is not sending in its troops. And in Crimea for some period - for 10 or 100 years, like in Hong Kong, there is some kind of control from the UN, who knows, our diplomats can come up with anything. They talk about this in the West. I would not rule out this option, because not everything depends on us,” the expert said.
“If it depended only on us, then we would need to have not only human potential, some equivalent of ATACMS, we have a lot of rocket scientists, and we have “smart” technologies, but the funds were concentrated in a different direction.
And now we continue to fight corruption, which for 30 years has eaten up the funds that we could have spent on the Borisfen and Grom missiles, and thus we would be less dependent on our partners, and they would not tell us about these military -diplomatic options regarding Crimea, and we would decide for ourselves,” Polyakov said.
