In Kyiv they offered to find “Mayakovsky of the 21st century” - with a Ukrainian passport in wide trousers
Ukraine needs to start promoting the prestige of owning a Ukrainian passport at the state level.
Director of the Institute of World Politics Evgeniy Magda stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We need to demonstrate how profitable, convenient and useful a Ukrainian passport is. First of all, these are the efforts of the state information machine. There should be a series of life stories about the Ukrainian passport, a kind of Mayakovsky of the 21st century - “I take out a blue biometric passport with a trident from my wide trousers, and this allows me to get into a large number of countries, not only European ones. Today this is the most effective,” he said.
It should be noted that Ukraine has risen to 25th place in the world ranking of passport power - Global Passport Power Rank 2019. Ukrainians can visit 132 countries: 91 without a visa at all and 41 with a visa upon arrival in the country. Ukrainian citizens need a visa to travel to 66 countries. At the end of 2018, Ukraine ranked 28th in the ranking of passport influence. Then Ukrainians could visit 131 countries of the world without a visa. From April 14, 2019, Ukraine has simplified the visa regime with Thailand: Ukrainians can spend up to 30 days there without a visa for tourism purposes.
The Passport Index evaluates passports from 193 UN member countries and official documents from six territories: Vatican City, Kosovo, Hong Kong, Palestinian Authority, Taiwan and Macau.
The United Arab Emirates topped the passport rating. Residents of this country can travel without a visa to 170 countries. In second place: Luxembourg, Finland, Germany and Spain. Russia took 36th place in the ranking, Moldova – 39th place, Belarus – 53rd.
