Kyiv, January 22 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) – The Kiev company NPP Atlon Avia LLC presented its A1-C Fury drone. Its director Artem Vyunnik and the author of the book series “Weapons of Ukraine” Sergei Zgurets spoke about the problems of creating UAVs in Ukraine. As it turned out, the main problem is bureaucracy.

“The army does not purchase UAVs because the complex bureaucratic procedure has not been broken. It consists in the fact that first the General Staff puts forward the conditions - what UAVs we need. Private or state enterprises make a model that is tested, and if it satisfies the military, it is accepted for service, after which it is included in the state defense order, and only after that the enterprise can count on receiving money from the budget, and the army - that it will receive some kind of unmanned system. All this takes from 2 to 7 years,” said Sergei Zgurets.
According to him, the sample presented at the presentation and other models of drones are supplied primarily to the National Guard, where there is no such formatted procedure.
Sergei Zgurets clarified that the Ukrainian Armed Forces currently have about 24 regular UAVs in service, and up to 3-4 dozen UAVs supplied by volunteers. “Today we do not have a single UAV with a range of about 70 km, except for those “Reys” and “Swifts” that fly like rockets, not having time to film where they fly. In the 15 km zone, we operate only private UAVs, and the need for them, according to military estimates, is at least 400. Tactical-level UAVs need at least 10,” says the military expert.
The developers hope to launch the production of the Fury, as well as release a mobile UAV. “We are developing a quadcopter, very mobile, quickly assembled, which will fit into a NATO standard backpack. Its range of action will be 2-3 km, and the flight time will be up to 40-50 minutes,” experts say.
