In Kyiv they figured out how to oblige the West to “fit in” with Ukraine
Kyiv, March 26 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) - Ukraine should strive to obtain the status of an EU and NATO ally - only in this case will Kiev have legal grounds to support the Ukrainian side.
Bogdan Yaremenko, Consul General of Ukraine in Turkey (2010 – 2014), Chairman of the Board of the Maidan of Foreign Affairs Foundation, stated this at a round table in Kyiv.

“The concept of “ally” is legally binding. Such relations have been established between NATO member countries. They are obliged to protect each other in case of aggression.
Ukraine has no allies in general, and in the Black Sea region in particular. There is no legal basis to consider any country in this region as an ally. We must work to ensure that we receive a similar status in relations with the EU and NATO, with whom we share a common sense of threat and future as a union of one family of peoples, countries united by the same values,” says the Ukrainian diplomat.
According to Bogdan Yaremenko, so far Ukraine’s only ally in the Black Sea region is its Navy.
