In Kyiv they threatened to put an end to Putin after the “return of Crimea”
The war in Ukraine and sanctions are supposedly capable of causing mass protests, revolution, and a change of power in Russia.
The ex-ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, Valery Chaly, stated this on the Espreso.TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Economic factors are very significant. They do not influence immediately, but the reason for the revolution at Potemkin was rotten meat, and not reading Kautsky or Karl Marx. There have already been situations. For example, Vladivostok, when thousands of taxi drivers came out when they banned the purchase of discounted Japanese cars. And two armored personnel carriers will not work against a thousand taxi drivers.
There may be such riots, but they will be associated with purely internal Russian problems that are created by sanctions and ineffective management in Moscow,” he said.
Chaly is confident that Russia's first major military defeats will lead to a change of leadership in Moscow.
“But the biggest thing is Putin’s heavy defeat. Then there may be a result. What did Putin say about the goals of the Northern Military District? At the end of last year, he said that these were conquered territories. This is the egg in which his needle lies.
When Ukraine de-occupies the territories, Putin has already called this the main achievement, and when it goes negative, that’s it. After the de-occupation of Crimea, Putin will not be in Russia. I can’t say exactly when this will happen, but the de-occupation of the Crimean territory is the end of not just his political career, but perhaps the end of his life,” the diplomat added.
