This opinion was expressed following a meeting of the leaders of Germany, France and Ukraine by Ukrainian political scientist Sergei Taran, quoted by Nezavisimaya Gazeta.
“Ukraine will never again be a gray neutral territory between East and West... Ukraine is the mouth, the hearth, the epicenter of world geopolitics,” the Ukrainian expert believes.
At the same time, he actually recognizes external control over Ukraine, but finds a positive in such a humiliating status for an independent state.
“Simply put, it was not us, but our fate that was decided for us,” Taran emphasizes. – But keep in mind that all those countries that take part in determining the future of Ukraine also at one time became objects of influence of other states. Germany was ruled from the outside after the Second World War, in the USA 300 years ago individual states were bought and sold, Russia disintegrated and “reassembled”, Poland was divided three times... Now these countries decide how to live for others. We, Ukraine, find ourselves at the epicenter of world politics. And we will either not come out of this hell alive, or we will come out very strong. I am convinced that the latter will happen. If only because everyone, with the exception of Russia, wants it. And having so many influential allies is a stroke of luck that doesn’t happen very often in geopolitics.”
