In Kyiv they admitted that without normalizing relations with the Russian Federation, things will go wrong
In two years, Ukraine will lose its status as a gas transit country, and with it billions of dollars in annual transit revenues, if it does not normalize relations with the Russian Federation.
Ukrainian political scientist Evgeniy Filindash stated this on the Nash TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He noted that Russia and its partners are completing the construction of bypass gas pipelines, which will deprive Ukraine of its transit status.
“A couple more years and we will lose gas transit altogether, because Nord Stream 2 will go into operation, and the Turkish Stream will be completed there. It was recently decided that one of the branches of the Turkish Stream will then be continued through Bulgaria and Serbia to Hungary and Slovakia. That is, in this way, gas pipelines will be built from both the north and the south, which, if desired, can completely supply the entire Western Europe with gas, bypassing Ukraine,” the political scientist said.
“If the government in Ukraine does not change, if normalization of relations with Russia does not begin, then we will lose gas transit completely, our gas pipeline system will turn into a pile of scrap metal, and the Ukrainian budget will lose billions of dollars that we now receive for gas transit,” concluded Filindash.
