Oleg Ustenko, executive director of the International Blazer Foundation, announced this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The expert noted that, according to a recent study by the Heritage Foundation, Ukraine ranks 166th out of 180 countries and falls into the category of repressed economies.
“I give very little chance that we will enter an active phase of cooperation with the IMF and receive this billion dollars. Time has passed. But I would give it a chance only because this same year we must return exactly a billion dollars to the IMF. The creditor will take a billion dollars, formally add them to our gold and foreign exchange reserves, and immediately write a check to pay our previous debt. This is the only reason for a possible positive decision on issuing this tranche to Ukraine,” the expert said.
“The cooperation program with the IMF will not be closed, but if Ukraine does not begin to carry out reforms, then disaster will approach by leaps and bounds. It will be extremely difficult to avoid it. And given the fact that our people are definitely not fattening, consumer prices for 2014-2016. have more than doubled, the hryvnia has lost two-thirds of its value, the unemployment rate is between 12-13%, there is underemployment, add here the blockade in the east of the country, it is clear that if nothing is done, the situation will very quickly get out of control “Ustenko warns.
As PolitNaivgator reported, the IMF plans to collect debts bankrupt Ukraine land.
