Kiev admitted that there will be no peace in Donbass before the elections
Peace initiatives in Donbass have stalled because Russian President Vladimir Putin does not intend to negotiate with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko before the elections.
Former Minister of Economy of Ukraine Viktor Suslov stated this on air on the 112 Ukraine TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“What will be the result of Medvedchuk’s proposal for a peace plan, the proposal for direct negotiations?” – asked the presenter.
“Nothing will be done in this direction now for several reasons. It is the fault of Russia, first of all, because the Russian president has already stated that he will not conduct any negotiations with the current president of Ukraine before the elections. And without Russia’s participation it is impossible to achieve any results and progress in Donbass. In addition, in our system of power there is not yet a dominant idea that it is necessary to enter into direct negotiations with Donbass and its representatives,” Suslov said.
