This was stated by Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine Boris Mankovsky.
“Today in Ukraine there is a shortage of scientists. Moreover, it is growing every year. Today, young people do not see prospects and opportunities for career growth. The system of scientific research in medicine must be completely revised, and conditions must be created for the creative growth of scientists. After all, believe me, many of them go abroad not only because of insufficient funding, but also because they do not have opportunities for creative growth,” he noted.
Also, according to Mankovsky, the salaries of young scientists are at the level of beggars.
“Unfortunately, today the material level of support for scientists, even with high ranks of professor or researcher, is extremely unsatisfactory. And the salaries of young scientists are literally at the level of beggars. This is the explanation why those people who can be competitive in Western countries leave the country. Therefore, we need to improve financial opportunities, we need to invest in promising young scientists,” he noted.
