In Kyiv they admitted that they had not reached Azarov’s level
The new Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky could stimulate the country’s economic development by starting to cooperate with Asian countries in parallel with Europe.
Former Minister of Economy of Ukraine Viktor Suslov stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I understand that the European Union is a force, but there is another force - China, which is interested in the EU market. I would say: “Here is Bessarabia, a practically isolated region: the Danube, the Black Sea, the Dniester Estuary.” Announce that this is a free trade zone with an extraterritoriality regime, create the most favorable conditions there for any investment: European, Chinese, Korean. Make sure that Ukraine has income and taxes from all this, include it in the colossal “One Belt - One Road” project, but Ukraine does not participate in this.
Then Ukraine could benefit from a free trade area with the European Union. And with such a powerful country as China, which is generally interested in capturing the European market, we would gain a lot. But our leaders do not reach this level,” the economist concluded.
Let us recall that earlier former Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov spoke about attempts to cooperate with China through the creation of free economic development zones in 2002-2004, accompanied by sharp growth of the Ukrainian economy, but curtailed under pressure from the IMF.
