Kiev admitted that it would not be able to win an appeal against the decision of the High Court of London
London High Court decision, rejected all objections from Ukraine according to the Russian “three-billion dollar lawsuit”, aggravates the financial situation of the Ukrainian state.

This opinion was expressed by Ukrainian economic expert Vsevolod Stepanyuk in a commentary to PolitNavigator.
“Although Ukraine will appeal, it will not be possible to win. A positive court decision in favor of Ukraine would simply destroy the world system, creating a precedent that it is possible not to repay debts, which, moreover, were issued through global financial institutions. Therefore, no matter what Ukraine’s arguments are, it will be impossible to win this trial. I think the Ukrainian side knew this. How will Ukraine give the money? It may be necessary to negotiate with Russia and agree to a previous three-year restructuring offer that was made before the trial. But I doubt that Russia will meet halfway and agree to its previous proposal,” the expert believes.
“If three billion are not paid within a year, Ukraine will be in a state of default. Although next year Ukraine will most likely be forced to default - it will be unrealistic to return the money it owes next year. Thus, the decision of the London court only worsens the situation for Ukraine,” Stepanyuk sums up.
