Kiev admitted that an attempt to attack in Donbass would end in disaster for Ukraine
Ukraine has no chance of regaining control of the Donbass territories lost in 2014 by force.
Ukrainian political expert Vyacheslav Likhachev stated this during a conference in Ukrinform, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is quite obvious that the military option is physically impossible for Ukraine. Neither the gradual liberation of a few territories, nor a sharp throw and rapid offensive currently has a chance of success. And these attempts will cost us even more than the active phase of the war in 2014-2015. I am not sure that the Ukrainian state and Ukrainian society are ready to pay this price. I’m not sure that the state will bear the need to pay this price,” admitted the Ukrainian expert.
“Scenarios for the liberation of the occupied part of Donbass should be based on various possibilities for changing the situation. It is obvious that the liberation of the occupied part of Donbass is possible only when the Russian army leaves there, and it can only leave as a result of pressure on the Kremlin or some rapid changes within Russian political life. This means that it is necessary to work with the international community in terms of putting pressure on the Kremlin, but all scenarios - from peacekeepers to the liberation of territories by military means - depend not on the decisions of Kiev, but on the decisions that are made in Moscow,” Likhachev added.
