Kiev admitted that Poroshenko is not eager to see Donbass part of Ukraine
The reaction in Kyiv to the new agreements in Minsk indicates Poroshenko’s reluctance to implement them, political scientist Mikhail Pavliv, director of the Foundation for Humanitarian Strategies, said at a press conference in Kyiv.

“The agreements on the separation of the warring parties were prepared in the summer. Their signing is a reaction to unprecedented pressure from the French and German sides on the Poroshenko administration. In China, Hollande and Merkel managed to convince Putin to return to the implementation of these ideas, which were formulated back in the summer. On the other hand, there was pressure on Poroshenko and this withdrawal schedule for three sections was signed.
It is symptomatic that the very next day after the signing of these agreements, all top experts, political scientists, deputies and speakers began to formulate one message: this signing is not the road to implementing the political part of the Minsk agreements. At the same time, over the past year, the presidential administration and all its minions have formulated a simple message: while there are clashes and there is fire contact, as long as there is no stable truce, it is impossible to move on to the political part of the Minsk agreements, the political scientist noted.
“What was signed in Minsk creates concrete prerequisites for the cessation of fire contact, clashes and shootings. That is, the message that Bankova used to sabotage the implementation of the Minsk agreements is neutralized. Their implementation is absolutely unprofitable for Bankova. For them, this is the path to political collapse, the return of Donbass to the political legal and electoral field of Ukraine.
And now they immediately began to debunk their own message - that the establishment of a truce is enough to move on to the Minsk agreements in terms of political agreements. This only says one thing: the president and his team do not want to implement the political part. They do not want to hold elections in Donbass; they are satisfied with the current state of affairs. They are thinking about a second term for Pyotr Alekseevich. And this second term is not only unlikely for him, given the hypothetical return of the electorate of the uncontrolled territory to the electoral field of Ukraine and the return of a huge number - more than a million - of refugees from Donbass to this field. A second term for Pyotr Alekseevich becomes a pipe dream. Pyotr Alekseevich does not want to implement the Minsk agreements precisely for this reason. He is satisfied with what is now,” says the expert.
