Kiev admitted that the Russian economy was too tough for American sanctions
Russia has long experienced the shock effect of American sanctions and today has fully adapted to the US sanctions policy.
Political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Sanctions are an endless series. Throughout the year, American legislation provided for seven waves of sanctions against the Russian Federation. At the same time, the effectiveness of these sanctions and their influence on Russia, in my opinion, despite their accumulation, is falling. The first shock to the Russian economy and politics has long passed. The Russian economy is adapting and getting rid of dependence on American financial markets; Russian politics has also adapted to new realities and does not expect sanctions to be eased in the near future or even decades. Therefore, the political and even economic effect of sanctions has decreased significantly,” Bortnik believes.
At the same time, he called the meeting between Putin and Trump in Helsinki a “black spot” for the United States and Ukraine.
“The new waves of sanctions are largely an element of the internal American political struggle. These are attempts to hinder any agreements between Putin and Trump. This includes the reaction to the meeting in Helsinki, which remained a “black spot” not only for Ukrainian politics, but also for the American one,” the expert said.
As PolitNavigator previously reported, Ukrainian international affairs expert Andrei Buzarov admitted that American sanctions did not affect Russian support for Donbass.
