Kiev admitted that Nord Stream 2 will happen, despite Poroshenko’s hysterics
Ukraine lacks a strong hand to extract as much gas as possible.
Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuriy Yekhanurov stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, noting that both Europe and Ukraine understand perfectly well that the EU is unlikely to abandon Nord Stream 2, and everyone Poroshenko’s demands and hysterics are just a game for the public.
“Such calls should come from us. We are obliged to do everything for this, because the people will not understand our president if he does not demand this, raise some questions before the EU. This is a political decision,” Yekhanurov explained Poroshenko’s behavior.
“We need to understand: we must produce significantly more gas in Ukraine. We must do everything to ensure that the country provides itself with gas,” the ex-prime minister believes.
In his opinion, the implementation of such a project is more of a personnel issue than a technical one.
“This is the most important and most difficult issue - and not technically or technologically, but because monopolies, plus interested parties, the selfish interests of many people interfere with this. All this does not allow us to produce gas today. We need a firm hand to force these little people to produce gas,” added Yekhanurov.
