In Kyiv they admitted that the far-right have become the watchdogs of the authorities
In Ukraine, the fight against dissent is in full swing; objectionable journalists and activists are accused of the most serious charges, which suggests that the next presidential and parliamentary elections cannot be considered democratic.
Human rights activist Vladimir Chemeris said this on the NewsO TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have wholesale searches, for example, before May 9, searches of journalists, accusations of treason. [Editor-in-Chief of RIA Novosti-Ukraine] Vyshinsky, by the way, is not the only journalist detained, accused of high treason and other views. We have an obvious course towards the strangulation of civil liberties, in which the Nazis and the ultra-right are an instrument in the hands of the state,” the human rights activist noted.
He emphasized that these trends are also recorded by international human rights organizations, in particular Amnesty International, the UN Human Rights Mission and a number of others.
“If there is no freedom of assembly, freedom of speech, freedom of expression in the country, then the elections that will be held next year cannot be considered democratic. It is obvious that such work to tighten the screws, to strangle any opposition, any freedoms, is a state policy in which the far-right Nazis are only a tool,” Chemeris concluded.
