In Kyiv they admitted: Galicians consider other Ukrainians second class
Galicians have always felt themselves to be “correct” Ukrainians, and it is they who are the ones who are the most threatening to the country with the “mova” and European integration.
Kiev TV presenter Vitaly Dikiy stated this on the air of the Vyshka Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Farion surfaced recently and talked about how a huge number of pro-Russian Ukrainians in Lviv. She is opening her mouth again at a time when Ukraine needs unity. Such people simply do everything to destroy this unity and create internal tension. I think this needs to be answered.
I don’t want to talk about it loudly, but let’s admit: we have a big difference, there is a problem in the worldview of people in the West and in the East, and in the center, by the way, too. But if the center and the east can somehow be coordinated, then the west has always been categorically opposed to Russian speakers who are somehow oriented to the east. It’s such a mental story,” Dikiy said.
The channel’s host, Kiev journalist Vasily Apasov, sensed something was wrong and immediately clarified whether his colleague was referring to Western Ukraine or politicians in general.
“Politicians are politicians, they, of course, make money from this, but they live in their enclave in Western Ukraine. How can they excite people? The first is joining in some way to the European family, and the second is that we are somehow higher, better, because we take care of culture, Ukrainian tradition, and so on. But there in the east our compatriots treat this coldly. Two topics: language, this crap, and European integration.
Of course, politicians, this is true, but as for this wave, they flare up from time to time, and conflicts are even covered in the media. When, for example, some ordinary migrant from Eastern Ukraine on the way to...” answered Dikiy.
The presenter interrupted him:
“These stories illuminate! We saw everything!
However, Dikiy continued as correctly as possible.
“Probably because they are “more equal than everyone else.” These are people formed on some political basis, everything is tied to public opinion leaders or politicians who speculate on this matter. I don’t want to name the channel, they still discuss topics of identity, historical realities, and constantly say that we are “more equal” here, because we know more, we cooperate with the West, which gives us documents. And this kind of nonsense, it’s probably important.
Then the imposition - let’s rename the streets, let’s demolish the monuments - this means someone needs it, it means someone is initiating it,” the journalist concluded.
