From May 2014 to March 2018, at least 355 civilians were killed and 1 were injured from mines and explosive remnants of war in the Ukrainian-controlled territory of Donbass, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Affairs of the so-called “occupied territories” and temporarily displaced persons.
“According to data received by MVOT, 178 dead and 1 wounded were recorded in the Donetsk region, in the Lugansk region the number of dead reached 108 people, and 177 wounded,” the statement said.
The ministry recalled that in Ukraine there is still no official unified statistics regarding the civilian population who suffered as a result of mine explosions in Donbass.
“Through the efforts of MBOT, for the first time since 2014, information from all involved institutions and departments, central and local authorities was collected and systematized. As a result, it was possible to collect objective facts about the death and injury of civilians from mines or explosive objects,” the report says.
