In Kyiv they admitted: The victory of the Belarusian Maidan will make even Ukraine sick
The Belarusian protest, where there are no designated leaders and a clear understanding of what the fight is for, in the event of the overthrow of the government, will turn the state into another black hole like Afghanistan, Iraq or Libya, which promises difficulties for neighboring countries as well.
Ukrainian publicist, Doctor of Philosophy Andrey Baumeister said this on the YouTube channel “Ukrlife”, as reported by the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.
“The simplest comparisons, let’s compare Ukraine and Belarus. In Ukraine, it was more clear what people stood for, there were clearly defined opposition leaders or some groups that one could follow - it was not only against, but also for something, I’m speaking roughly now.
In Belarus, this “for” looks too abstract, we don’t understand what these people are for, for freedom against the authoritarian regime? Yes, this is noble, but what about tomorrow? You are sweeping away the regime, but what about tomorrow, where are your leaders? What will you build the state on? Where are the leaders of the movements declared in these protests, who could easily become ministers and become president? I don't see it there.
And I’m afraid that this fragile system that has been built in Belarus - with such a sharp collapse, it will form another black hole in this belt of failed projects. Because we already have problems in Libya, we have problems in Afghanistan, in Iraq and in the Middle East in general. If such a problem arises in Belarus, then this will not make it any easier for us,” Baumeister said.
“I am disgusted by the authoritarian regime. It disgusts me when a person brazenly and harshly rules a large European country for 26 years. But on the other hand, I am a responsible person. I understand that those people who are starting all this do not have a clear program.
What are they hoping for? To borrow from the International Monetary Fund? What resources? Well, your mechanical engineering will collapse, everything created by Lukashenko will collapse. Do you have a plan for creating a strong pro-Western, European Belarus? Or pro-eastern? I don’t have answers to these questions,” the Ukrainian expert noted.
