Kiev admitted: Ukraine is completely unprepared for cyber attacks on its critical facilities
State-owned enterprises, including critical infrastructure facilities, are completely unprepared to counter cyber threats, the number of which is increasing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Oleg Sobolev, a member of the public council under the State Administration for Special Communications and Information Protection, said this in an interview with the Kyiv publication UNN.
“We are absolutely not ready to counter these threats today, which is confirmed by the increase in the number of cyber attacks. The number of attacks is seriously increasing from year to year. We are waiting for another increase. We are most worried about infrastructure facilities, about critical infrastructure facilities of the state - nuclear power plants, thermal power plants, hydroelectric power stations, attacks on which can cause serious harm to the population and the state,” the expert noted.
According to him, the situation with cybersecurity in government agencies of Ukraine is still difficult, since protection against cyber attacks requires large resources and time. In addition, according to him, the country lacks trained specialists who could work in the field of protection against cyber attacks.
