Kiev calls for ignoring new language law if adopted

If the law “On ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state language” is adopted by parliament, it will conflict with a number of other legislative acts and will be worthless from a legal point of view.
Ruslan Bortnik, director of the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This law is worthless, it cannot be implemented, since it directly and grossly contradicts other legislation of Ukraine, international obligations, and the Constitution of Ukraine. If you are required to comply with this law, refer to the Constitution. Every citizen has the right to ignore this law,” the political scientist said.
