In Kyiv they called on the National Security and Defense Council to alienate all energy assets from their owners using “limitless methods”
The Ukrainian government must by any means regain control of its gas fields and oil refineries in order to reduce dependence on Russia.
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Vadim Denisenko, who was a member of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction, stated this on air on the Apostrophe Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the politician, we are talking about the forced alienation of gas-bearing areas from the owners and the return of refineries owned by businessmen to state control.
“We need to increase the production of our own gas using any, even limitless, methods. What do I mean by limitless methods? For the last five or seven years, I have been hearing that Ukrgasvydobuvannya cannot, due to the position of Poltava deputies who sell something for three kopecks, take back its sites for gas production. This needs to be resolved once and for all using a voluntary method, because before 24 we have the opportunity to reach a more or less gas production figure that will provide us with...
Point number two - we are currently critically dependent on gasoline and diesel from Belarus - from the Russian Federation, we need to call a spade a spade. We need to think now about how, and this can be achieved relatively quickly, because we can reactivate and invest relatively little money in one or two oil refineries, which are now in private hands, but the state can do anything using voluntary methods.
We, through the National Security and Defense Council, can do everything - the same can be done, conditionally transfer the Nadvirny Oil Refinery or the Drohobych Oil Refinery into the hands of the state, invest money in it and provide ourselves with 100% gasoline, and 50-60% with (diesel),” he argues. Denisenko.
