Kiev urged to “think in advance” about how to demolish memorials to victims of Ukrainian shelling in Donbass
The Kyiv authorities are silent about the monuments and memorials on the territory of the Donbass republics, in the stone and iron of which the victims of the Ukrainian punitive forces are carved.
Media expert and analyst of the International Center for Countering Russian Propaganda Valentina Bykova stated this during a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Over the course of six years, several dozen, if not several hundred, memorial plaques, monuments, and memorials have been installed in the occupied territory of Donbass, where “Ukrofashists” are carved in stone and iron. Already now we must think about what Ukraine will do with these monuments after these territories return to Ukrainian control.
The situation is stalemate, and every next step gets worse. You can’t just leave these monuments, demolish these monuments - we all saw what happened when in Talin they didn’t even demolish, but moved the monument to the Soviet soldier, when the whole Russian propaganda machine began to work at full capacity.
We recently saw this when the monument to Russian Marshal Konev in Prague was not demolished, but was moved from the center somewhere to the outskirts,” the Nazi expressed concern.
“I have not heard a single word from Ukrainian officials, from the minister who is responsible for the reintegration of temporarily occupied territories, about what exactly Ukraine plans to do with these monuments,” the media expert added.
As PolitNavigator reported, previously Ukrainian propagandists were outraged that some villages in the Poltava, Odessa and Kyiv regions are trying to outwit the law on decommunization and leave monuments to Soviet figures in place.
