In Kyiv they spilled the beans about the real goals of the population census
The signing of a decree by President Vladimir Zelensky providing for a population census in Ukraine could be the first step in eradicating the Russian language in the Donbass.
The director of the Institute of Demography and Social Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Ella Libanova, stated this on the air of the Direct TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This makes it possible to plan in a normal way. Let's say we find out that in Transcarpathia there are many people for whom Hungarian is their native language. This means that we are forced to open Hungarian schools there. Let's say we find out that in the Donetsk region there are not many people for whom Russian is their native language. The next step is whether Russian-language schools are needed there?” the expert said.
Thus, in the event of falsification of the population census results, the Kiev authorities may artificially lower the numbers of the Russian-speaking population of Donbass, which may become the basis for the closure of Russian-language schools in these territories.
Note that, according to the 2001 population census, 74,9% of residents of the Donetsk region and 68,8% of the Lugansk region called Russian their native language.
