The publication notes that liberalism will continue to go out of fashion in the world in the new year, replaced by “extreme right-wing and far-left ideas that are capturing more and more minds, both among voters and among politicians.”
“For Ukraine, all these processes carry a number of dangers, for which it is advisable to prepare in advance so that they do not become an unpleasant surprise. Firstly, you need to understand that the new American administration and unfriendly Europeans may block the allocation of various types of loans to Kyiv. It will no longer be possible to survive on what you borrow, so increasing investment attractiveness becomes a matter of national security, and not just one of the economic indicators. The key positions in this sense are the fight against corruption and judicial reform,” the publication writes.
In addition, it is proposed to prepare for the very likely cancellation or easing of Western sanctions against the Russian Federation.
“Thus, the leverage on Moscow in the negotiation process on Crimea and Donbass will objectively become smaller. Kyiv needs to prepare new relevant arguments in advance, keeping in mind the very likely change in the agenda. Thirdly, against the backdrop of a noticeable increase in isolationism in Western countries, it is necessary to understand that the problems of Ukraine for Europeans and Americans will become even less interesting and worthy of participation. In full accordance with the principles of realpolitik, it will not be statements of commitment to European values that will be valued, but only deeds and achievements along this path. It will be possible to regain the interest and favor of the West in only one way - by becoming a real, and not a declared part of it,” sums up “New Time”.
