In Kyiv they saw the light: It’s not Putin in isolation, but Poroshenko
Even under the conditions of sanctions against Russia, the situation looks as if Petro Poroshenko, and not Vladimir Putin, is in international isolation.
Kiev political scientist Nikolai Spiridonov said this on the UkrLife Internet channel, commenting on the Russian leader’s recent visit to Austria, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This conversation with a journalist (Austrian - ed.) was Putin's only fly in the ointment during his visit to Austria. In general, he was received well there. In fact, he showed that he is not in isolation, that he spoke with Prime Minister Sebastian Kurz. Before this, there was an economic forum in St. Petersburg, Macron and the same Kurz were there. He negotiated with Merkel, and a meeting with Trump is being prepared.
“I may say a seditious phrase, but Petro Poroshenko is in greater international isolation. He doesn’t talk to Macron, Merkel, or Kurz very often. In this case, Putin showed that his affairs seem to be in order,” Spiridonov said.
