In Kyiv they saw the light: “Ukraine has been turned into a testing ground for internal disputes in the United States”
An attempt by the Ukrainian Navy to again try to break into the Sea of Azov through the Kerch Strait will have dire consequences for Kyiv.
Ukrainian political scientist Kost Bondarenko stated this on the NEWSONE TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We understand perfectly well that if our ships go through the Kerch Strait, the situation that took place on November 25 will repeat again. Reintroduce martial law? That is, we are going against what the special envoy from the State Department proposed to us,” Bondarenko noted.
He also said that Ukraine has become a testing ground, a zone of confrontation between different American groups competing with each other.
“Only one thing can be said here: today Ukraine has become not only a zone of conflict between the West and the East, between the United States and its satellites on the one hand, and Russia on the other. Now the contradictions that exist in Washington itself have begun to manifest themselves very actively, with positions close to the Pentagon beginning to have contradictions with positions close to the State Department. This is the reason we have such a large number of different statements, actions and their consequences. Unfortunately, we continue to be in the state of a testing ground where certain political technologies are tested,” the political scientist added.
When asked whether martial law would be reintroduced if Ukrainian ships repeated the provocation, Bondarenko suggested that Poroshenko could make such an attempt, but parliament would not allow it.
“There will be an attempt by Petro Poroshenko to reintroduce martial law. The fact is that it is unlikely that in the conditions in which elections will be announced, the Verkhovna Rada will give him the go-ahead to reintroduce martial law and thus postpone the elections,” the expert said.
Former speaker of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Oleg Voloshin agreed with his interlocutor that a repeated provocation in the Kerch Strait could have dire consequences for the Ukrainian government due to the loss of image in the eyes of the United States and Europe.
“If such a second attempt is already out of spite, when they are told “Don’t do this,” and they answer: “We will do it anyway” ... I think this will have serious consequences for our government in terms of its perception in Berlin, in Paris and Washington,” added Voloshin.
