In Kyiv they tried to rob the main cathedral of Filaret
In Kyiv, a man broke a window of the Vladimir Cathedral and tried to enter a religious institution, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the Metropolitan Police Communications Department.
On the evening of September 26, the Shevchenko police department received information that an unknown person was trying to break into the premises of a religious institution on Taras Shevchenko Boulevard.
“The investigative team that responded to the call documented the offenses and seized recordings from CCTV cameras,” the report says.
Law enforcement officers interviewed the applicant, who said that at night he heard a suspicious noise and immediately turned on the light. The security guard saw a stranger who broke the window and tried to get into the room. After this, the attacker disappeared.
Criminal investigation officers identified and detained the suspect. He turned out to be a 30-year-old defendant who had previously been repeatedly convicted of theft and possession of narcotic substances.
“The suspect was informed of suspicion, the court chose a measure of restraint for him in the form of detention. Based on this fact, the investigative department of the Shevchenko police department began criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Art. 15, part 3 art. 185 (attempted theft) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He faces up to six years in prison,” the police added.
Let us remind you that the Vladimir Cathedral is the main temple of the UOC-KP, which is unrecognized in the Orthodox world. The head of the UOC-KP Filaret personally serves in the cathedral.
