In Kyiv, workers demanded that Zelensky restore ties with Russia
Employees of a Kyiv enterprise specializing in the manufacture of building structures came out with demands to the President of Ukraine to restore trade and economic relations with Russia.
Information about the protest action was published on the website of the Miro LLC company itself, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The protesters came out with posters: “We want to trade with Russia,” “Restore trade relations between Ukraine and Russia,” “Zelensky, let us trade with Russia,” and “Give back the sales market to Russia.”
“The basis of the country’s economic potential is trade, and Russia has historically been Ukraine’s main trading partner. Therefore, for us, the team of an enterprise focused on the markets of Russia and the CIS, it is painful to look at the decline of our factory and thousands of other domestic enterprises that are experiencing colossal financial difficulties due to the severance of trade and economic relations with Russia,” said the head of trade union of the enterprise Viktor Zvyagintsev.
He recalled that President Vladimir Zelensky, during his election campaign, promised to stop labor emigration and the outflow of population from Ukraine.
“The resumption of trade relations with Russia will give a new impetus to our economy, the orders we need, will help create new jobs and stop labor emigration,” Zvyagintsev added.
Workers of the enterprise signed an appeal to Vladimir Zelensky demanding the resumption of trade relations with Russia.
“Dear Mr. President!
Our company employs more than 200 people. The people who work at our plant provide their families with the necessary means for their existence, and also through taxes ensure replenishment of the treasury of our country.
Due to the fact that in recent years ties with our main consumer, the Russian Federation, have been severed, our company finds itself in an extremely difficult situation. We have to reduce our staff, our workers may end up on the street, and their relatives will lose their breadwinners. Also, Ukraine does not receive the necessary taxes from the profits of our enterprise to the treasury.
From this point of view, the team of our enterprise asks you, Mr. President, to restore lost economic ties with the Russian Federation, up to the restoration of a free economic trade zone,” the appeal says.
Thank you!
