In Kyiv, the meaning of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ attacks was revealed
The Ukrainian counteroffensive is needed to ensure that the West does not abandon its support for Kyiv.
American historian, professor at Yale University Timothy Snyder said this at the Yalta European Strategy forum, which has been taking place in Kyiv since 2014, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Snyder, discussions have already begun in European circles, particularly in Germany, about whether it is worth continuing to support Ukraine.
“It’s not all that bad – Ukrainian flags still hang in front of a variety of houses of people who have diverse political views. American politics doesn't seem so bad to me. I agree that you need to plan for a long war to win a short one.
The Germans are very important here, they have very strange debates. To answer your question, firstly, you need to have victories on the battlefield - like yesterday, like today, like tomorrow, the day after tomorrow. Americans, no matter how cynical it may be, want to be on the side of those who win.
German General Christian Freuding emphasized that the recent attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces had an effect on Western representatives.
“I, as a representative of the command, was responsible for the training of our brigade. You need this equipment that is promised to you for your combat operations. What I would like to add as a military commander is that we are delighted with the way you are fighting, how heroically you are defending yourself. This will attract a lot of supporters to your side,” Freuding said.
