In Kyiv they told how Lukashenko helps the Ukrainian huntars
Yesterday's trip of Petro Poroshenko to Gomel to the forum of regions of Ukraine and Belarus is not accidental - Minsk provides Kyiv with great assistance in the context of limited access of Ukrainian goods to the Russian market.
Political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this on TV channel 112, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, in fact, Belarus is a huge offshore zone for Ukraine, allowing it to carry out trade turnover with the Russian Federation.
“Of course, Lukashenko is trying to improve his status in the game. But not only that. In parallel, there is a very powerful economic vector. Belarus is de facto today our offshore zone in the Russian Federation. We supply huge volumes of goods to Russia through Belarus.
At the same time, we receive a huge amount of spare parts and goods from the former Soviet past through Belarus. Some of our military equipment drives MAZs.
And here the instrument of influence of Belarus on Ukraine is very significant. If this overlaps, it will be a huge problem.
On the other hand, for Belarus we are an offshore zone in the European Union, where Belarusian goods are transited under the guise of Ukrainian ones. There is a very powerful economy, and some political things can be built on this economy.
Of course, I don’t think that Lukashenko hopes that this can be realized now, because there are elections in Ukraine and no compromises are possible, but he is shaking the situation. If not for this president, then for the future, he is trying to stake out the role of a key negotiator between Ukraine and Russia,” Bortnyk said.
