In Kyiv they told who should pay for peacekeepers to Ukraine
Europe could well take on full or partial funding of peacekeepers in Donbass as a “contribution to solving the problem in Ukraine.”
Alexander Levchenko, adviser to the minister on issues of “temporarily occupied territories,” said this during a press conference on the topic “What should a peacekeeping mission in Donbass be like,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Money, assessment mission...I think that most of the money will come from the UN, why is a decision not made so quickly, we need to think, consider that money needs to be reserved in the UN budget for the next period. This is a lot of money. We hope that some developed countries, realizing that the UN cannot provide full funding, will take upon themselves the financing of their contingents. This will be their unique peaceful contribution to solving the problem in Donbass. There are such examples when richer countries support this contingent at their own expense while carrying out peacekeeping tasks,” said the minister’s adviser.
He emphasized that these could be countries that have a fairly high level of GDP.
“I doubt the countries of Africa and Latin America, but the countries of Europe – yes. Eastern - unlikely, but central and western - they could consider the issue of full or partial funding. But this will be their personal decision,” Levchenko said.
